CHASTEBERRY TREE /Monk's Pepper - Vitex agnus-castus SEEDS

Beautiful small trees producing lilac purple flowers in Summer. Good drought tolerance, grows in a wide range of climates from cool to subtropical and quite tough and low maintenance. Frost hardy, deciduous in cool climates. Native to the Mediterranean it works well in a dry garden with little care. The flowers are a favorite of butterflies and the peacock carpenter bee.

Seed germination is slow, soak seeds in water for 1-2 weeks before sowing. Germination may take 1-2 months. Cold scarification will usually improve results. 

Height 1-5m, usually smaller in cooler climates. Responds well to hard pruning so can be kept small easily.
