Couve Tronchuda / Portugese Cabbage / Collard / Kale

This unusual vegetable is known by various names but is a popular veg in Portugal, commonly used in the soup 'Caldo verde'. The leaves are rounder and larger than most similar vegetables, sweeter than cabbage, non heading and withstands heat extremely well.
Cabbages need correct timing of planting to form correctly.
Sow late summer- early autumn in most climates, in tropical and sub tropical zones sow in Autumn-Winter. Best to sow going towards the coolest time of the year. Avoid hot weather.
Germination best between 10-20 degrees c. Prefer sunny position, sow 5mm deep, emerge 6-10days
