SHALLOT 'Banana' BULB

Versatile and easy-to-grow type of shallot, with a mild and sweet flavor. Tthey have a shorter cooking time than normal onions and are larger in size (10-18cm), making them easier to peel and work with. They are a result of a cross between shallots and onions, and are sometimes referred to as French Echalion. To grow shallots, simply plant them in well-drained soil and keep them regularly watered for optimal bulb development. Planting them with certain companion plants, like lettuce and thyme, can also improve their growth. It is recommended to plant them on the shortest day and harvest on the longest, as they take about 90-120 days to mature. Once harvested, dry the bulbs in a well-ventilated area for two to three weeks

Best in cool, temperate and Mediterranean climates.
