This is an old heirloom vegetable producing pods that are similar in appearance and taste to winged beans so makes a good substitute for cooler climates. Beautiful red flowers preceded small fluted pods which taste similar to asparagus. Seed can be roasted and used like coffee.

Height approx 30cm

Sow in Spring for most climates, early Autumn in the subtropics. May not grow well in tropical climates.

Harvest 60-80 days, best picked when pods are smaller than 5cm.
