Caraway

This a very popular herb which can be used medicinally or in the kitchen. Caraway’s calmative and relaxant qualities make it useful as a remedy against stomach and intestinal pain such as colic or cramps. It is also commonly used in cough remedies. In cooking the young leaves can be used in a variety of dishes such as soups or stews. Older leaves can be used like spinach. The seeds can be used as a poppy seed substitute in cakes or in many cooked vegetable dishes.
Sow in Spring and summer Seeds germinate best if stored in the fridge for a week before sowing or in the freezer for a few days before sowing. Sow 6mm, seedlings emerge 7-15 days, plant 20cm apart
