This versatile herb is also known as Egyptian spinach, Jerusalem spinach, Molokhia, Mulukhiyah or Jew's mallow and is a common culinary herb in many eastern and Asian countries. It is highly nutritious and is also believed to have medicinal properties. The leaves and young fruits are used as a vegetable, the dried leaves are used for tea and as a soup thickener, and the seeds are edible.This is also the plant from which jute or hessian fibre is derived.
Sowing time - Grow early Spring- Summer.
Germination best between 25 degrees c, best in warm humid climates
Prefer sunny position, sow 2-5mm deep, emerge 6-10days
