Planting / Seed Potatoes - Purple Congo
Tuber size - SMALL
This vigorous variety produces medium sized oblong shaped potatoes with purple skin and purple flesh. Retains colour when cooked. Very productive, similar in shape to kipfler potatoes.
-Seed potatoes are tubers meant for planting (not seeds), they are usually smaller than tubers for eating.-
Sowing time – Cool climates - After last frost August-October
Temperate Climates - Mid July - October
Warm / Tropical climates - April-August
*Potatoes can be stored for several months somewhere cool and dark until you are ready to plant Prefer sunny position, prepare bed deeply at least 25cm down, soil should be friable to avoid odd shaped potatoes. Sow in 10cm deep furrows with 25 cm between tubers and 75cm between rows. Fertilise well. Large tubers can be cut so long as each half has an ‘eye’ or sprout
