This is an old fashioned vegetable very similar to cabbage except the leaves grow loosely rather than in a head. It is excellent for cold climates and winter gardens and the flavour and nutritional quality even improve after frost.
Winter greens need correct timing of planting to form correctly.
Sow late summer- early autumn in most climates, in tropical and sub tropical zones sow in Autumn-Winter. Best to sow going towards the coolest time of the year. Avoid hot weather.
Prefer sunny position, sow 5mm deep, emerge 7-14 days Harvest approx. 10-12 weeks after sowing
