Chickpea 'Brown Desi'

This brown form of chickpea is the type used for 'Chana Dahl', Chana Dal, or Bengal gram - it produces slightly smaller seeds than the common type with a nutty flavour and a slightly thicker coat. This variety is more commonly grown in India, East Africa, Mexico, and Iran. Can be used similarly to common chickpeas.
Sow in early spring after last frost
Sow 25mm, soil temperature should be 22-26 degrees C, seedlings emerge 10-14 days, space 15cm apart.
Bush plant which may need staking depending on conditions.
Harvest approx. 100 days after sowing.
