This is an unusual plant, related to celery which produces fine flavoured bulbs and celery tops. The bulb can be grated into salads, soups and stews for flavouring and vegetable bulk, whilst the tops can be used just like celery. It is more tolerant of cool climates than celery and stores well at cool temperatures.
